Times Report
Jammu,
Apr 20: How deep rooted the nexus between some doctors and administration of
Government Medical College Jammu is can be gauged from this: the enquiry report
into a patient's death, allegedly due to a doctor's negligence, is yet to be
submitted even after two months.
The
'blue eyed' doctor, who was appointed over a non-existent post as Liaison
Officer, had operated upon a patient without supervision of any senior faculty
member, which is mandatory as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
"Following
death of the patient, an emergency meeting of faculty members was called to
investigate. Some faculty members objected to the clinical working by the
Liaison Office (doctor)
and also to his conducting surgeries for which he is not entitled, "a
senior doctor, seeking anonymity, said.
Later,
a committee was formed to probe into the death, and it was asked to submit its
report within a week. "But since the doctor enjoys proximity with some
politicians, the committee has not submitted its report even as two months have
passed since the patient's death," the sources said.

They
alleged that the doctor had been appointed over a non-existent post in the
GMC&H Jammu few months ago.
When
contacted, GMC principal Dr. Sunanda Raina said, "I don't know about the
status of case right now as I am outside the office. Only after looking into
the matter I will be able to comment."
