JAMMU, Jan 07: Ultimately the State Traffic Police department has woke up and given 15 days ultimatum to the all commercial transporters to wear the uniforms “khaki”. If anyone who will not wear the uniform, they department officials take some legal and strict action against them.

It is pertinent to mention here that the order to wear uniform was issued in 2009, directing drives and conductors of commercial vehicles like matadors and busses to wear Khaki colour shirt and trouser, to identify them but no one has taken it seriously.

“Finally, after 3 years have been passed, the traffic police department has woke up and starts to streamline traffic in the Jammu and Kashmir,” source said. He also said there are few question rises against the traffic police department. What was doing the police department from the last three year?

He further said that there are 6,107 buses, 7,382 mini buses, 25,613 trucks and tankers, 4,871 taxis and 15,078 three-wheelers in the Jammu region.

Presently no one has worn the Khaki uniforms on the roads in the region. Mostly of drivers have violation of the traffic rules and accidents?

When contacted Superintend of Police Sujit Kumar Chauhan said that, the traffic department is serious about the road accident and department has taken more and more step to stop the violation of traffic rules especially for commercial vehicles. “Commercial drivers have got 15 days by the department to wear their uniforms and follow the traffic rules in the city as well as outer area,” he added.

He further said that the department has issued clear warning to all commercial drivers don’t consumption of any drugs related things. “If the driver operates the commercial as well as other vehicles found consumption of drugs and alcohol, the official will take strict action against him,” he stated.
