Surgeries rescheduled, patient care hit as power supply snapped at IGGDC

  11/28/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report   JAMMU, Nov 28: Patients undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) and Hospital Jammu had tough time due to prolonged power cuts on Monday and few minor surgeries were reportedly postponed despite availability of Gen sets. According to information, the power supply was snapped due to technical fault and was not restored till the reports last came in and the matter was taken up with the concerned authority but nothing was done. However, Principal of IGGDC Jammu Dr Romesh Singh said that he had just come from a meeting and would enquire the matter from the concerned. 11/20/2016  Nitesh Sangral   Early Times Report   JAMMU, Nov 20: The condition of newly constructed building of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) and hospital Jammu is only turning more pathetic by the day. The building constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on August 31. It was hoped that the maintenance work would be done by the authority concerned. But the authority has failed to do so, as filthy floors, power cuts and shortage of water supply have added to the mess. JKMSCL fails to provide surgical threads to hospitals

Red-Cross staff misusing facilities 11/14/2016  Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  Jammu, Nov 14: The Red-Cross Sarai at Maheshpura Chowk constructed for attendants of the patients from far off areas admitted in GMC hospital Jammu is reportedly out of bounds for patients, as it is always found shut, impelling attendants of poor patients to stay in lodges or at odd places. Besides, adding to their plight, the ambulances, meant for patients are seen ferrying Red-Cross staff and are generally denied to patients on frivolous pretexts. 11/12/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report   Jammu, Nov 12: Work in the newly constructed Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and Hospital (IGGDC&H), Jammu, has come to a halt for last two days due to water scarcity. However, officials of the hospital claim that water supply was restored but for a while. Sources told Early Times that water supply to the new building of IGGDC&H was disrupted for last two days due to which patients and staffs including doctors were forced to buy water bottles from market. "There was no water to sterilize instruments, wash the floor, clean the linen," sources said. "Toilets were stinking and doctors on duty were forced to carry drinking water bottles from home for second day on Saturday," sources added. In J&K, the move is giving sleepless nights to doctors and other government employees. 11/7/2016 Early Times Report   JAMMU, Nov 7: Despite strict instructions to administration of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu by the government to make all arrangements to treat border firing victims, the hospital has failed to deliver. The claims of GMC&H Jammu have been exposed by family members of martyr Gurnam Singh as well as relatives of 14-months-old Pari, as their families have accused the GMC&H of not providing them required facilities. "GMC&H Jammu doesn't have enough manpower to run a number of operation theaters (OTs). Denting State exchequer, IGGDC Principal's official residence remains unused

11/4/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 4: Despite spending a hefty sum from the state exchequer over the construction of Principal's official residence of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu, the structure remains unused to this day. Official Sources told Early Times that the Official residence of Principal IGGDC Jammu was constructed by State Government and interestingly one or two Principals stayed in the building. The building has remained mostly unused. "Most of the glass doors are broken and dense grass inside and around the building has grown," they said.
