Political rivalry, apathy reduces Channi Himmat park into shambles

10/28/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report   Jammu, Oct 29: Inaugurated by former Congress Minister, the park of the JK Housing Board in Channi Himmat is becoming victim of the apathy of the incumbent MLA who is from the rival BJP. The park which serves as the lungs of the posh Chhani Himmat locality is fast deteriorating and fast becoming a picture of neglect and apathy of the concerned department. The toilets constructed in the corner of the park are filthy and stinking , small water showers installed in the park for watering grass and plants are lying defunct due to poor maintenance, the lights installed at the parks are either broken or not working properly and wild grass has come up at most places. Moreover, officials of the department have never showed interest to promote and increasing the stock of drugs in the shops at cheaper rates. Pertinently, Generic medicines are very cheap and the price of the same drugs is nearly three times costlier in the general medical stores. Despite delay of 4 months, exams yet to be conducted 10/20/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report    JAMMU: It seems officials of J&K State Board of Technical Education (JKSBOTE) are playing with the future of thousands of students by delaying their examinations. The examinations of 2nd and 4th semesters of the students who are enrolled in various technical colleges in the state were to be conducted in March and July respectively. But due to unknown reasons the exams continue to be delayed. The students say they are dejected due to the delay in holding exams. "Our chances for getting admissions for higher studies in the current academic year are bleak," some students told Early Times. Jammu to have First pain killer center in north India

10/18/2016  Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  Jammu, Oct 18: State Health Department is all set to open Interventional Pain Killer centre at Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital which is first centre under Health Services north India in Jammu. Disposal of bio-medical waste : GMCH fails to submit reports to NGT

10/12/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  Jammu, Oct 12: The lackadaisical approach of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu can be gauged from fact that despite reminders from National Green Tribunal (NGT), the administration is yet to submit reports about mechanism for disposal of bio-medical waste. Pertinently, GMC &H and its associated Hospitals viz. Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital, Chest and Disease (CD) Hospital and Super Specialty (SS) Hospital Jammu on an average generate around 9 to 10 tonnes of bio-medical waste in a month which has the potential to create environmental catastrophe. Despite DB directions, Health Deptt fails to fill vacant posts

  10/7/2016  Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 7: Despite being pulled up by Division Bench of J&K High Court, State Health Department is unmoved as it has not filled up vacant posts in various hospitals. Pertinently, in August 2015, court had taken a suo-moto cognizance of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) about not a single doctor being available in 15 PHCs of Udhampur district and the sweepers are managing the sub-centres at many places due to want of doctors and paramedical staff, the court had directed the Health department to fill up all vacant posts within three months. Since then one year has passed and department has not done anything to implement the court directions.
