X-ray machines at IGGDC Jammu defunct, patients suffer

3/18/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report    Jammu, Mar 18: Notwithstanding the increase in the footfall of patients in the Indira Gandhi dental college, at least five X-ray machines are lying defunct in the hospital, making the patients to feel the brunt. Meanwhile authorities maintained that the efforts are on to maintain and to get the out of order equipment in order at earliest. Sources at IGGDC Jammu told Early Times that out of five X-ray machines, only a machine is functional and cater patients care and some time causing inconvenience to patients and doctors. X-Ray imaging is the most important diagnostic process which enables doctors to see the underlying problems. GMC&H approaches Div Com for taking back attendants' sarai

3/8/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report   Jammu, Mar 8: Anguished over alleged apathetic attitude of India Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu toward attendants' sarai which is being maintained by it, administration of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu has approached Divisional Commissioner Jammu for taking back Attendants' Sarai advocating that the attendant Sarai was not being put to optimum use. Pertinently, the Sarai at Maheshpura Chowk has the capacity of accommodating 150 persons and the building was constructed at a cost of Rs 3.29 Crore. After completion, the building was handed over to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) for its management, which in turn had fixed Rs 50 per person per bed charge for general masses and Rs 30 for Below Poverty Line (BPL) category attendants and Rs 10 per person per meal. GMC HoDs wash dirty linen before MCI team

Possibilities of increase in MBBS seats bleak 3/4/2016 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  JAMMU, Mar 3: Several Heads of Departments of the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu on Thursday shamefully washed dirty linen in front of the inspecting team of the Medical Council of India (MCI). The Head of Departments apprised the visiting MCI team about the shortcomings of the GMC thus belying the claims of the former Health and Medical Education (M&HE) Minister about best facilities being provided to the patients in GMC and its associated hospitals.
